This book tells the story of those long years through the history of one battalion - the 2nd Battalion the Monmouthshire Regiment, from the heady days of 1914 to the days of victory and occupation of Germany in 1918 and 1919. It is a story of the tragedy of the war years and it covers many of the major battles of the Western Front.
