This latest book by local author Marion Evans presents a comprehensive of Andrew Buchan's Brewery, Rhymney, the products of which were to become admired and favoured across South Wales and beyond. The book traces the Company's origins back to the year 1839 when an employee of the Rhymney Iron Company, a Scotsman by the name of Andrew Buchan worked his way up the entrepreneurial ladder to establish what was to become a virtual empire in the brewing industry. Jobs were plentiful and thirsts could be quenched with Rhymney beers in an accumulation of pubs and hotels spread over an expansive area, many of which are to be seen in the compilation of photographs contained in the book.
